The 2023 strike is over...what's (going to be) on tv?

On occasion, David does end up hobbling Goliath. The 5-month long strike of WGA representing 11,000-plus writers challenged the AMPTP (Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers) that crippled major entertainment studios, and brought the economy to its knees to the tune of $5.0 billion and 17,000 jobs lost in New York alone is over. Solidarity with and support from SAG-AFTRA, the actors' union representing 160,000, didn't hurt. Contract ratification comes next. Then SAG-AFTRA storms the gates - likely with success because the floodgates are now open and there's no turning back. Content production and show launches are expected to be delayed through 2024 - but we grudgingly got used to the fits-and-starts of delays and reduced programming during pandemic (sort of; streaming saved the day there). Kudos to the @WGAWest and @WGAEast - raising a glass to you and David. https://variety.com/2023/biz/news/writers-strike-ends-wga-amptp-deal-2-1235733452/
